Outlook with Dr. Baburam Bhattrai by Shubha Shankar Kade

Naya Shakti Nepal (NSN) party has affirmed its stance that Nepal should construct the Kathmandu-Nijhad fast-track on its own by seeking soft loan from outside including India. In view of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s upcoming official visit to India, the NSN suggested that Nepal should give emphasis on completing the projects under construction with Indian investment, aid and loan in the stipulated timeline rather than signing agreements for additional projects right now.

Extending best wishes to Prime Minister Dahal for his successful visit to India, NSN Coordinator Baburam Bhattarai has suggested him to take special initiative to review the treaties and agreements including 1950 Friendship Treaty signed in the different context and cut through some of the problems and misunderstandings persisting on Nepal-India relations. Bhattarai also stressed the need to develop and amend the traditional security perspective – which has been one of the important dimensions of Indo-Nepal relations – in a timely manner. It was expected that the PM would do his best to present and establish a noble idea that politically stable and economically sound Nepal could only be a reliable partner for the security of neighbouring India and China, states a press release issued here today by Dr Bhattarai.
